Hutchinson is proud to be among the 28 winners of ADEME’s call for projects with its eBDC France initiative (Electric Bike Drivetrain Components), an innovative drivetrain system for electric-assist bicycles (e-bikes).

eBDC France is part of a broader effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote industrial reshoring, and support short supply chains. It strengthens our position in the e-mobility sector while creating jobs in France.

The eBDC France project: a technological revolution

Our eBDC France project aims to develop a complete and innovative "Made in France" drivetrain system for electric-assist bicycles. The high-performance system includes:

• A patented next-generation synchronous belt, designed to be more durable, quieter, and maintenance-free “resolutions®” tires made with a high proportion of bio-based and recycled materials  
• Innovative mechanical components (including chainrings, pulleys, and tensioners) that integrate seamlessly into the system  
• A digital platform for easier use and maintenance

Beyond bicycles

While eBDC France focuses on the e-bike market, the performance of our new belt already opens exciting possibilities. It could be extended to other e-mobility segments, such as electric scooters and motorcycles.
